I saw this shell while camping in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. A few things surprised me about the trip. First off, the dune habitats were so varied and unique I could hardly believe they were all in one relatively small area. Second, we saw some wildlife; a bald eagle, lots of dragon flies, crabs, vultures, seagulls, some type of blue bird, a mole, and some other small rodents.

I was delighted to see all of these animals not only because it reminded me of how diverse this planet is, but also because on a day to day basis most humans don’t every see a wild animal. There are a lot of wild animal species out there, but for the most part we keep to ourselves and so do they. It’s nice to bridge the gap every now and then.
